Dear Country Meadows Families,
I hope you all were able to rest during our days off last week! The students returned to their learning and I am continually amazed at their desire to learn and their work ethic! Below are some pictures from classroom visits from the past week. Below is important information regarding Halloween and an exciting Author Visit.
NEW *HALLOWEEN INFORMATION*
Stores are full of Halloween costumes, and I'm sure that your child is excitedly looking forward to getting a Halloween costume together for this year's festivities. When selecting or creating a costume with your child to wear at school, please be sure that the following expectations are followed:
-Must be appropriate for school
-No masks, blood, super scary stuff, or weapons
-No cigars or cigarette items
-No bare tummies
-Please keep hair coloring and make-up simple
**If you are unsure about a costume or costume prop, please contact your child's classroom teacher. Students whose costumes do not meet these expectations will be asked to adjust their costume for the school festivities.**
On October 31st, all students will have the opportunity to participate in a parade outdoors at 1:30 pm (dependent upon the weather) as well as the classroom party. Please see some reminders below:

The parade may be viewed by families outdoors. If it rains, it will be indoors for students and staff only.

The Halloween party is by invitation only from the PTO. At this point, you should know if you are a volunteer (if so, please no extra siblings)!

NEW *1st & 2nd GRADE AUTHOR VISIT*
Yangsook Choi grew up in Korea. She started drawing at age 4 and loved telling her grandma scary stories. After moving to New York to pursue her art, she has written and illustrated many books for young readers including, The Name Jar and New Cat.
We are fortunate to have her visit our school in November. She will be seeing all first and second grade students. If you are interested in an autographed copy of her books, please fill out this form and return to school by October 28th. (Our older students will have their author visit later in the year).
NEW *PTO UPDATE*
It’s definitely starting to feel like Fall with all the exciting events happening sponsored by our PTO! Make sure you read the BLOG to learn about our Popcorn/Cookie Dough Fundraiser, the fun Carnival night filled with games, dancing, and prizes, Halloween Parties, and 3rd/4th Grade Movie Night! We are looking forward to having fun!!!

¡Espero que hayan podido descansar durante estos días libres! Los estudiantes regresaron a su aprendizaje y sigo sorprendido del deseo que tienen para aprender y su ética de trabajo! Abajo verá algunas fotos de las visitas de la semana pasada. Verá información importante sobre el día de Halloween y la emocionante Visita del Autor.
NUEVO *INFORMACIÓN DE HALLOWEEN*
Las tiendas están llenas de disfraces, y estoy seguro de que su hijo está emocionado por conseguir un disfraz de Halloween para celebrar en la escuela. Al elegir o crear el disfraz que su hijo va a usar para la escuela, asegúrese de seguir las siguientes expectativas:
-Debe ser apropiado para la escuela
-Ningún tipo de máscara, sangre, cosas muy espantosas, o armas
-Se prohibe los objetos con cigarros y cigarrillos
-Las barriguitas deben estar cubiertas
-Por favor mantenga los colores de cabello y el maquillaje simple
**Si no está seguro sobre algún tipo de disfraz o accesorio, contacte a la maestra de su hijo. Los estudiantes que usen un disfraz que no cumpla con estas expectativas deberán cambiar su disfraz para las actividades escolares.**
El 31 de octubre, todos los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de participar en el desfile que se llevará a cabo afuera a la 1:30 pm (según el clima) así como en la fiesta del salón. Por favor recuerde que:

Usted podrá observar el desfile si se lleva a cabo afuera. Si llueve, el desfile será dentro de la escuela solo para los estudiantes y el personal.

La fiesta de Halloween es solo por invitación del PTO. Usted ya debe saber si será voluntario (de ser así, por favor no traiga a más familiares)

NUEVO *VISITA DE AUTOR para 1er y 2º GRADO*
Yangsook Choi creció en Corea. Ella empezó a dibujar a los 4 años y le encantaba contar historias de miedo a su abuelita. Después de mudarse a New York para emprender su arte, ella ha escrito e ilustrado muchos libros para niños, incluyendo The Name Jar y New Cat.
Somos afortunados de contar con su visita a nuestra escuela en noviembre. Ella visitará a todos los estudiantes de primer y segundo grado. Si está interesado en obtener una copia autografiada de sus libros, por favor complete este formulario y regréselo a la escuela para el 28 de octubre. (Los estudiantes de los demás grados tendrán una visita más adelante en el año escolar).
