Dear Country Meadows Families,
Happy Friday! We had another great week of learning at Country Meadows. Assistant Principal, Mike Senatore, has been able to visit a few classrooms to read aloud our school theme book “Say Something” by Peter Reynolds. The students have been challenged to think of ways they can use their own voice to make Country Meadows a better place. There will be follow up activities, lessons, and conversations connected to our school theme throughout the school year. Continue this conversation at home by asking your child how they can use their voice to make a difference! This week, there were also visits from the Fire Department to discuss fire safety for all grade levels.

NEW *THOUGHT EXCHANGE PARTNERSHIP - PARENT OPPORTUNITY*
Now seeking parents to fill open positions on our district Thought Exchange Partnership. If you are looking for a way to get involved, be a voice for Country Meadows, and learn about the wonderful things happening in District 96, please consider joining. Lubna will contact everyone to let you know if you have been selected! The first meeting is scheduled for September 26th in the evening.

*To review school board or school code required topics (i.e. Parent/Student Handbook, Discipline Policy, Grants, Calendar)
*To understand parent perceptions and solicit feedback on school district topics to assist the district in communication and planning.

REPEATING *MAP TEST UPDATE*
Please read the following change regarding MAP testing and student score information.
We made the decision this year to turn off the ability for students to see their RIT score immediately upon submitting their test. In past years, this feature has been turned on. Instead, students will receive their scores through an individual discussion with their teacher at some point following the MAP testing window. In addition, MAP score reports will be emailed to parents on Friday, September 6th beginning at 3pm.
The main reasons for this decision are as follows:
We believe it is best for students that their results are shared personally. Teachers can help put student results into context and discuss areas for further growth and areas of strength. A RIT score in isolation does not communicate this level of detail and simply becomes a number to compare themselves to others.
Some of our students have demonstrated a high level of anxiety with the level of sharing that occurs when the RIT scores are shown upon test submission. This change will allow students to simply take the assessment and not be concerned about the immediacy of the feedback.
REPEATING *BAND REGISTRATION*
Dear 5th Grade Parents:
Band registration is still open for any 5th grader who would like to join. Most students signed up last spring, but whether you are new to the district or just decided you’d like to join, we’d love to have your child play in the band!

REPEATING *Approved Snacks: What Parents Need to Know*
The District has revised the APPROVED SNACK LIST, adding more items to this list to give families more choices. The items the list includes are free of the Top 8 allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat.
This list includes the foods that are approved for students' Daily Snacks. It also includes (for children in Grades 1–5) foods approved for Special Events such as birthday treats for a class or for PTO Halloween, Winter, or Valentine's Day parties.
IMPORTANT: All items for Daily Snacks–with the exception of fruits and vegetables–MUST be prepackaged to allow staff to easily check that snacks meet the approved requirements.
Director of Educational Services Amy Gluck also has provided responses to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) about foods approved for daily snacks/special events.

REPEATING *School Hours*
Arrival time is between 8:10am and 8:20am. The tardy bell rings at 8:25am. A parent/adult must accompany tardy students into the office and sign them in if you arrive after 8:25am. Do not drop your child off at any door since all doors are locked and secured at this time. Please be aware that while we try to keep clocks on time, they can sometimes run a minute or two fast. If there are no adults outside, please walk your child into the front office.

¡Feliz viernes! Tuvimos otra semana maravillosa de aprendizaje en Country Meadows. NUEVO *COLABORACIÓN DE INTERCAMBIO DE IDEAS - OPORTUNIDAD PARA LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA*
Estamos en busca de padres para que se unan a la Colaboración de Intercambio de Ideas de nuestro distrito. NUEVO *NO HAY CLASES EL LUNES*
Queremos recordarle que no hay clases el lunes 2 de septiembre debido al Día del Trabajo. ¡Esperamos ver a los estudiantes el martes 3 de septiembre!
Reiteración- *Actualización sobre la Evaluación MAP*
A nivel de distrito, hemos decidido apagar la habilidad que tienen los estudiantes de ver los resultados RIT inmediatamente al finalizar su examen. En años anteriores, esta característica ha estado encendida. En su lugar, los estudiantes recibirán sus resultados de manera individual con su maestro después de tomar la prueba MAP. Además, los reportes del resultado de MAP serán enviados por correo electrónico a los padres el viernes, 6 de septiembre a empezando a las 3 pm.
Las razones principales para esta decisión son las siguientes:
Creemos que es mejor que compartamos los resultados con los estudiantes personalmente. Los maestros pueden ayudar a los estudiantes a colocar los resultados en contexto y hablar sobre las áreas en las que necesita crecimiento y las áreas de fortaleza. Una puntuación RIT aislada no comunica este nivel de detalles y simplemente se convierte en un número para compararse con los demás.
Algunos de nuestros estudiantes han demostrado un alto nivel de ansiedad cuando comparten los resultados RIT al finalizar la prueba. Este cambio permite que los estudiantes simplemente tomen la prueba y no se preocupen de los comentarios que recibirán inmediatamente.
REITERACIÓN *INSCRIPCIÓN DE BANDA*
Estimados Padres de los Estudiantes de 5º Grado:
La inscripción para Banda aún está disponible para cualquier estudiante de 5º grado que quisiera participar. ¡La mayoría de los estudiantes se inscribieron la primavera pasada, pero aunque sea nuevo en el distrito o ha decidido unirse, nos encantaría que su hijo tocara en la banda!

REITERACIÓN *Meriendas Aprobadas: Lo que Deben Saber los Padres*
El Distrito ha revisado LA LISTA APROBADA DE MERIENDAS, y han agregado más productos a esta lista para darle a las familias más opciones. Los productos que se incluyen en la lista son libre de los 8 alérgenos principales: leche, huevos, cacahuates, frutos secos, pescado, mariscos, soya, y trigo.
La lista incluye los alimentos que son aprobados para la Merienda Diaria de los estudiantes. También incluye (para niños en los grados 1–5) los alimentos aprobados para Eventos Especiales tales como cumpleaños o para fiestas de Halloween, de Invierno, o de San Valentín.
IMPORTANTE: Todas las Meriendas Diarias–con la excepción de las frutas y vegetales –DEBEN ser previamente empacadas para permitir que el personal revise con facilidad que las meriendas cumplan con los requisitos requeridos.
La Directora de Servicios Educativos Amy Gluck también ha proporcionado respuestas a las PREGUNTAS MÁS FRECUENTES (FAQs) sobre los alimentos aprobados para las meriendas diarias/eventos especiales.

REITERACIÓN *Horas Escolares*
La hora de llegada es entre las 8:10am y las 8:20am. La campana de llegada tardía suena a las 8:25am. Un padre/adulto debe acompañar a los estudiantes que llegan tarde hasta la oficina y registrar su entrada si llega después de las 8:25am. Favor no deje a su hijo por cualquier puerta ya que todas las puertas estarán cerradas en este momento. Por favor tenga en cuenta que mientras tratamos de que todos los relojes indiquen la hora correcta, a veces algunos pueden estar adelantados. Si no hay adultos afuera, por favor encamine a su hijo a la oficina.
