Country Meadows families,
I have to say that this has been one of the busiest and most fun weeks at CM this year! I would like to start off by thanking the PTO and our school community for the amazing Teacher Appreciation Week treats & surprises. I am so incredibly honored to work with a staff that is ALWAYS willing to go above and beyond for our students, and they were so appreciative of the love and support they felt this week! Thank you for taking the time to recognize the hard work and dedication they put in each and every day to make sure the needs of all of our students are met!
Our orchestra students also did an amazing job at their Orchestra Extravaganza concert on Tuesday night! It is so much fun to see the growth the students have made, particularly our 4th graders! The changes that are seen between the first concert and the last are truly remarkable! We also had a great time at our End of the Year Party hosted by the PTO! There were SO many smiling faces present on Thursday night to celebrate the great 2018-2019 school year! Thank you to everyone who made this evening possible for our students and their families!

NEW *Author Visit Fun*
On Thursday, Jeff Weigel visited our school and presented to each grade level. Jeff is an illustrator, author and designer of children’s books, graphic novels, and comics. Several of his graphic novels have been added to our library book collection for check-out, and the students were very excited for this visit!

NEW *Notice of Scheduled Weed Treatment Control*
On Sat., May 11, 2019, the District's landscape contractor will treat grassy areas adjacent to all District properties. (The back-up date for weather delay is Sat., May 18, 2019.)
The District uses Integrated Pest Management–a program that combines preventive techniques, non-chemical methods (such as bait traps), and the appropriate use of pesticides (with a preference for products least harmful to human health and the environment).

REPEATING *An Invitation to Join Band*
Families whose students will be in Grade 5 next school year (2019–2020) have an opportunity to consider–to play in our school’s Beginning Band.
This month our current 4th graders will learn about band instruments and be able to try them for “fit.”
Then–Save the Date!–on Mon., May 20, at 7 p.m. in the Band Room at Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove, parents will learn details regarding band participation, instrument rental, and much more.

¡Debo decir que esta ha sido una de las semanas más ocupadas y divertidas en CM este año! Quiero empezar dando las gracias al PTO y a nuestra comunidad escolar por todas las sorpresas maravillosas de la Semana de Apreciación a los Maestros. ¡Qué honor poder trabajar con un personal que SIEMPRE es capaz de dar lo mejor de sí para nuestros estudiantes, y ellos estaban tan agradecidos por el amor y el apoyo que recibieron esta semana! ¡Gracias por tomar el tiempo en reconocer el arduo trabajo y la dedicación que ellos hacen cada día para asegurarse que las necesidades de los estudiantes son cumplidas!
¡Nuestros estudiantes de orquesta hicieron un trabajo maravilloso en su concierto la noche del martes! ¡Es tan divertido poder ver el desarrollo que han logrado los estudiantes, particularmente nuestros estudiantes de 4º grado! ¡Los cambios que se ven entre el primer concierto y el último son verdaderamente extraordinarios! ¡También pasamos un rato agradable en nuestra Fiesta de Fin de Año presentada por el PTO! ¡Habían TANTAS caritas sonrientes presentes la noche del jueves para celebrar el gran año escolar del 2018-2019! ¡Gracias a todos los que hicieron este evento posible para nuestros estudiantes y sus familias!

NUEVO *Visita Divertida de un Autor*
El jueves, Jeff Weigel visitó nuestra escuela y se presentó en cada nivel de grado. Jeff es un ilustrador, autor y diseñador de libros infantiles, novelas gráficas, y tiras cómicas. Varias de sus novelas gráficas han sido añadidas a nuestra colección de libros de nuestra biblioteca, y los estudiantes estuvieron emocionados con su visita!

NUEVO *Aviso de Control de Tratamiento de Malas Hierbas*
El sábado 11 de mayo, 2019, el contratista de jardines del Distrito va a aplicar un tratamiento en las áreas verdes contiguas a todas las propiedades del Distrito. (En caso de que no se pueda hacer ese día por condiciones climáticas se programará para el sábado 18 de mayo, 2019.)
El Distrito utiliza Manejo Integrado de Plagas- un programa que combina técnicas de prevención, métodos no químicos, y el uso apropiado de pesticidas (preferiblemente productos menos perjudiciales a la salud de los humanos y al medio ambiente).

REITERACIÓN *Una Invitación para Unirse a la Banda*
Todas aquellas familias cuyos estudiantes estarán en 5º grado el próximo año escolar (2019–2020) tienen la oportunidad de considerar tocar en nuestra Banda escolar de Principiantes.
Este mes, nuestros estudiantes que están actualmente en 4º grado aprenderán sobre los instrumentos de banda y probarán si son aptos para ellos.
¡Luego-Marca-la-Fecha! el lunes, 20 de mayo, a las 7 p.m. en el salón de Banda en la Escuela Woodlawn, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove, los padres aprenderán más detalles sobre la participación de banda, el alquiler de instrumentos, y mucho más.
