We can't believe that winter break is finally upon us. Our amazing winter parties were the perfect way to end spirit week and capitalize on the excitement as we head into break! I hope you all enjoy each and every moment of time with family and friends as 2018 comes to an end, as I know 2019 will be a year to remember!

This week I had the pleasure of joining two lucky Carnival Night auction winners at recess (they won recess with Mrs. Bird)! I still have one more student to spend time with, and I have to say that my experiences this week have truly excited me for the next! A few of the responses I have received from the survey (linked above) indicated that parents are interested in knowing more about the recess and lunch timeline/expectations. This is a VERY raw attempt to show you how students line up to be brought to recess, how they are called in from recess, and line up/enter the cafeteria after recess to get lunch! Enjoy!
NEW *Recess with Mrs. Bird*
This week I spent time with Danielle (2nd grade) and Quincy (3rd grade) at their respective recesses. Danielle had me try out ALL of the playground, and let's just say I am not as nimble on the monkey bars/climbing wall as I remember being! I think the students got a kick out of seeing their 5'10'' principal sliding down the slides, hanging on the monkey bars, or attempting (rather poorly) the climbing wall.
Quincy and some of the 3rd grade boys challenged me to a game of Tether Ball during 3rd grade recess. It's safe to say I still don't understand the 3rd grade boy rules for the game, but I absolutely loved seeing the teamwork, hearing the giggles, and experiencing the heartfelt sportsmanship first hand. "It's ok that you tried to hit the ball and missed, Mrs. Bird. You'll get it next time!". Our students are amazing, and I am very thankful that Danielle and Quincy took the time to ground me in the importance of the work I do each day. Next up, I will spend another 3rd grade recess with Hudson, and I can't wait!

As you may have seen at Family Educator Conferences, our lost and found has become quite the collection! If your child is missing a jacket, gloves, boots, sweatshirt, hat, etc. PLEASE visit our lost and found next week! Items not claimed will be donated.
REPEATING *Attention Parents of Current 5th Graders*
If your student is currently a 5th grader at our school, you will need to prove residency again between Jan. 8 and Feb. 15, 2019, in order to receive the email to register him or her for the 2019–2020 school year.
Only parents of current kindergartners and 5th graders have this requirement.
To prove residency, please bring to our school office the following:
• a current monthly mortgage or lease statement OR property tax bill
AND
• a current utility bill

Preregister by Jan. 31 to receive a FREE Willow Grove T-shirt for your incoming kindergartner.
Parents of incoming kindergartners will be requested to prove residency with required documents and District forms and to complete a brief online pre-registration form.

No podemos creer que ya llegaron las vacaciones de invierno. ¡Nuestras fabulosas fiestas de invierno fueron una manera perfecta de finalizar la semana del orgullo escolar y enfatizar la emoción ahora que nos dirigimos hacia nuestro descanso! ¡Espero que todos disfruten cada momento con sus familiares y amistades en este 2018 que pronto finaliza, y estoy segura de que el 2019 será un año para recordar!

Colaboración de la Comunidad: Para poder crear un modelo de una comunicación mutua, por favor déjeme saber si hay un momento en el día, una experiencia estudiantil específica, o un posible tema del cual usted quisiera saber o ver más en la sección de “Somos Nosotros-Somos Country Meadows” de mi Mensaje de La Directora! ¡Simplemente complete el Formulario Google para que pueda colaborar!
¡Esta semana tuve el placer de reunirme con los ganadores de la Noche de Carnaval durante el recreo (se ganaron un recreo con Mrs. Bird)! ¡Todavía me falta un estudiante con el cual debo pasar el recreo, y debo decir que mi experiencia de esta semana me han ilusionado para la próxima vez! Unas cuantas respuestas que he recibido de la encuesta (el enlace está arriba) indican que los padres están interesados en saber más sobre las expectativas durante el recreo y la hora de hacer fila durante el almuerzo. ¡Este es un intento MUY natural para mostrarles cómo los estudiantes se forman en fila para ir al recreo, cómo son llamados para regresar del recreo, y formar fila para entrar a la cafetería después del recreo para almorzar! ¡Disfruten!
NUEVO *Recreo con Mrs. Bird*
Esta semana pasé un rato con Danielle (2º grado) y Quincy (3er grado) en sus respectivos recreos. ¡Danielle hizo que me subiera a TODOS los juegos del parque, y déjeme decirles que no soy tan ágil en los monkey bars/escalando la pared como lo era antes! Creo que los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho al ver a su directora que mide 5'10'' en los resbaladeros, colgada de los monkey bars, o intentando (pésimamente) escalar la pared.
Quincy y algunos de los niños de 3er grado me retaron a un juego de Tether Ball durante el recreo de 3er grado. Y puedo decir con seguridad que no entiendo las reglas de los niños de 3er grado para este juego, pero me encantó ver el trabajo en equipo, escuchar las risas, y ver el espíritu deportivo. "¡No importa si trataste de pegar la pelota y fallaste, Mrs. Bird. Quizás lo harás la próxima vez!". Nuestros estudiantes son fabulosos, y estoy agradecida de que Danielle y Quincy se tomaran el tiempo para dejarme saber la importancia de mi trabajo. ¡Próximamente, pasaré un tiempo de recreo con Hudson otro estudiante de 3er grado, y estoy muy ansiosa!

Si a su hijo le hace falta una chamarra, guantes, botas, camisas, gorros, etc. ¡POR FAVOR visite nuestra área de objetos perdidos la próxima semana! Los artículos que no sean reclamados serán donados.
REITERACIÓN *Aviso a los Padres de los Estudiantes de 5º Grado*
Si su estudiante está actualmente en 5º grado en nuestra escuela, usted debe presentar un comprobante de residencia nuevamente entre el 8 de enero y el 15 de febrero, 2019, para poder recibir el correo electrónico para inscribir a su hijo/a para el año escolar 2019–2020.
