Country Meadows Families,
We had another great week here at Country Meadows, and we are looking forward to spending five days with students next week! This week's blog is short & sweet, but it includes a lot of great information & opportunities!

As you may have read in my previous Principal's Message, I am challenging myself to be more transparent with the Country Meadow's community in an effort to showcase the amazing things I have the privilege of encountering each and every day. In my future Principal's Messages, you will see various video clips of various aspects of life at Country Meadows in a raw, honest, and exciting way!
Community Input: In an effort to create a two-way communication model, please let me know if there is a time of day, specific student experience, or potential topic you would like to know more about or see in showcased in the "This is Us - We are Country Meadows" section of my Principal's Message! Simply fill out this Google Form to provide input!
This week I would love to showcase a fun and engaging opportunity that our 2nd graders in Ms. Rushenberg's class experienced with the help of our technology coach, Ms. Cohen! Take a look!
NEW *Early Release on Tuesday, 9/25*
Just a reminder that we have an Early Release on Tuesday, 9/25! Students will be released at 2pm.
NEW *Enhanced Lockdown Drill*
On Thursday we successfully completed our first enhanced lockdown drill. I am very proud of our students and continue to be impressed at the high level in which we operate at Country Meadows.
All of our students & staff participated in the enhanced lockdown drill to help us consider and review safety options and actions we can take to keep us safe in the event that an intruder were to enter our school.
The Buffalo Grove Police Department & Lake County Sheriff were extremely impressed with our staff and students during the drill. Our students were calm and took the drill seriously. Their insight and thoughtful conversation reflects their solid understanding of response options for safety in a variety of scenarios, and I am incredibly proud of them.

These are anxiety-provoking times. Learn from popular returning speaker Dr. Michael Maniacci about how you can help your kids cope with today's challenges and stressors. Ask questions and leave with understanding and practical strategies you can use.
No fee/no preregistration. All interested adults are welcome. Arrive late or leave early as your schedule requires.

REPEATING *First Annual Fall Carnival*

REPEATING *Picture Retakes*
Picture retakes are scheduled for Monday, October 15th. If your child missed picture day he or she should bring an order form with them. There are additional order forms in the office, or you can order online with our School Code 10018001. If your child is simply retaking his or her picture, please have them bring their original packet the day of picture retakes.
REPEATING *Thought Exchange Partnership*
Now seeking parents to fill open positions on our district Thought Exchange Partnership, formerly known as the Parent Review Committee! If you are looking for a way to get involved, be a voice for Country Meadows, and learn about the wonderful things happening in District 96, please consider joining. If you are interested in this opportunity, go to this link to express interest by September 28th! Please know this will be a lottery for open spots. I will contact everyone once we have the member to let you know if you have been selected! The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 11th in the evening.
Purpose:
*To share with parents information regarding district goals and initiatives, curricular and instructional innovations, programs and other informational topics. (i.e. District Goals, MAP & PARCC Results)
*To review school board or school code required topics (i.e. Parent/Student Handbook, Discipline Policy, Grants, Calendar)
*To understand parent perceptions and solicit feedback on school district topics to assist the district in communication and planning.
REPEATING * After School Clubs & Activities*
We are so excited to have so many students signed up for our after school clubs and activities that will begin next week! Due to the (amazing) number of students who showed interest in 3rd/4th/5th grade Art Club, we will be hosting two sessions of the club to ensure all students are able to participate.
A few reminders regarding our after school clubs & activities:
* Participating in a club/activity is an amazing and fun privilege. Expected behavior and participation is expected during all after school activities. As there are many students in each club, we enforce this expectation to ensure the safety of each student.
*All after school clubs/activities end promptly at 4:00pm. Please make sure your child is picked up on time!
*If your child will be riding home with another parent, please send him or her with a note so we can make sure all students get home safely!
If you have any questions regarding your child's participation in one of our after school clubs/activities, please email the club sponsor or Mrs. Bird!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy some of the fall weather that is on the way! I'm not one to complain about warm weather, but these random 90 degree September days sure do make it difficult to decide what to wear to work each day! Enjoy & we will see students back at school on Monday!

Tal como habrá leído en mi Mensaje anterior De La Directora, me estoy desafiando para ser más clara con la comunidad de Country Meadows por mostrar las cosas maravillosas de las que tengo el privilegio de enfrentar cada día. ¡En mis mensajes posteriores de La Directora, usted verá varios videos de varios aspectos de la vida en Country Meadows de una manera, honesta, emocionante y pura!
Colaboración de la comunidad: ¡Como iniciativa para crear un modelo de una comunicación mutua, por favor déjeme saber si hay un momento en el día, una experiencia estudiantil específica, o un posible tema del cual usted quisiera saber o ver más en la sección de “Somos Nosotros-Somos Country Meadows” de mi Mensaje de La Directora! ¡Simplemente complete el Formulario Google para que pueda colaborar!

NUEVO *Simulacro de Emergencia*
El jueves completamos nuestro primer simulacro de emergencia de manera exitosa. Estoy muy orgullosa de nuestros estudiantes y sigo impresionada del alto nivel en el cual trabajamos en Country Meadows.
Todos nuestros estudiantes y personal participaron en el simulacro de emergencia para ayudarnos a considerar y repasar las opciones de seguridad y acciones que podemos tomar para estar seguros en caso de que un intruso entrara a nuestra escuela.
El Departamento de Policía de Buffalo Grove y el Alguacil de Lake County estuvieron impresionados con nuestro personal y nuestros estudiantes durante el simulacro. Nuestros estudiantes estuvieron tranquilos y se tomaron el simulacro en serio. Su conocimiento y sus ideas valiosas reflejan su comprensión sólida de las opciones de respuesta para la seguridad en una variedad de situaciones, y estoy muy orgullosa de ellos.

REITERACIÓN *Vuelve a tomar tu foto*
Vuelve a tomar tu foto el lunes 15 de octubre. Si su hijo estuvo ausente el día de tomar fotos, deberá traer el formulario para ordenar las fotos ese día. Hay más formularios en la oficina, o puede ordenar en línea con nuestro Código Escolar 10018001. Si su hijo simplemente quiere volver a tomarse la foto, por favor dígale que traiga el sobre original en ese día.
REITERACIÓN *Asociación de Intercambio de Ideas*
¡Estamos buscando padres de familia para que formen parte de la Asociación de Intercambio de Ideas de nuestro distrito, antes conocido como Comité de Repaso de Padres! Si busca una manera de involucrarse, ser una voz para Country Meadows, y aprender sobre las cosas maravillosas que suceden en el Distrito 96, por favor considere unirse. ¡Si está interesado en esta oportunidad, vaya a este enlace y muestre su interés para el 28 de septiembre! Por favor sepa que habrá un sorteo para los espacios abiertos. ¡Yo me comunicaré con todos en cuanto sepamos que haya sido seleccionado! La primera reunión será la noche del jueves 11 de octubre.
Propósito:
*Para compartir información con los padres sobre las metas e iniciativas del distrito, novedades curriculares y de enseñanza, programas y otros temas importantes. (por ejemplo- metas del distrito, resulatdos de MAP y PARCC)
*Para repasar los temas requeridos de la junta escolar o del código escolar (por ejemplo- Manual del Estudiante/Padres, la Regla de la Disciplina, Becas, Calendario)
*Para entender las percepciones de los padres de familia y solicitar respuestas sobre los temas del distrito escolar y asistir en la comunicación y planificación del distrito.
REITERACIÓN * Clubs y Actividades para Después de Clases*
¡Estamos tan emocionados de tener tantos estudiantes inscritos en los clubs y actividades para después de clases que empezarán la próxima semana! Debido a la (maravillosa) cantidad de estudiantes que mostraron interés en el club de Arte de 3er/4to/5to grado, estaremos impartiendo dos sesiones del club para asegurar que todos los estudiantes puedan participar. Usted debió de haber recibido un correo electrónico que le indica en cuál sesión estará su hijo.
Unos cuantos recordatorios de las actividades y clubs para después de clases:
* La participación en un club/una actividad es un privilegio maravilloso y divertido. Se exige una conducta y una participación adecuada durante las actividades después de clases. Como hay tantos estudiantes en cada club, reforzamos esta expectativa para garantizar la seguridad de cada estudiante.
*Todos los club/actividades para después de clases finalizan a las 4:00pm en punto. ¡Por favor asegúrese que recojan a su hijo a tiempo!
*¡Si su hijo va a irse con otra persona que no sea usted, por favor envíe una nota con su hijo/a para garantizar que todos los estudiantes lleguen a casa de forma segura!
Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre la participación de su hijo en los clubs/actividades, favor de enviar un correo electrónico al tutor del club o a Mrs. Bird!
¡Espero que tengan un fin de semana maravilloso y que disfruten de esta temporada de otoño que se aproxima! Yo no soy de quejarme del clima caliente, pero estos días de septiembre de 90 grados hacen difícil decidir qué ponerme para ir a trabajar cada día! ¡Qué disfruten y veremos a los estudiantes el lunes!
