This week was an absolute blur.  The days are flying by and the students are very comfortable, sometimes too comfortable in their decision making.  I like when things run smoothly, no peaks or valleys.  Keep it calm.  Just a few items on the blog this week.

Student Council
Thank you to our Student Council members for preparing meals for PADS.  Here are a couple of pictures of the event:

Parking Lot
I am concerned about the students walking through the parking lot at the end of the day.  I have directed Mr. Kuhlman to put cones out at the end of the day until we can get back to our safest practice.  Please stay in line and have your student enter from the sidewalk.  There is plenty of room.

PTO General Meeting
Thank you to all of the PTO members who were able to make it for our meeting on Wednesday.  I cannot express my appreciation for the work all of our committee members do for the school throughout the school year.  Special thanks to Christina Angelos, our outgoing Co-President and the many hours of work she put in that role.  Thanks you to the entire executive board and, as always, I look forward to all of the events you have planned for next year.

Wonderful job by all of our Orchestra members on Wednesday night!  Wow!

Community Service Club
Last Saturday, members of our Community Service Club volunteered at the Buddy Baseball organization.  The gentleman who runs the club was so appreciative of our students, told us great the students were and shared with the difference they made in the lives of these children with special needs.  The CSC also donated baseballs & baseball cards that will be used throughout the season.  Parents of 6th & 7th graders, I hope that you encourage your child to give this club a chance next year.  This has been a great club and we will continue the work (or should I call it the fun) next year!

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make the Spring Book Fair such a success.  We could not have done it without you!

Finally, I know that I go on and on about my kids...but like all of you, above all, I am a proud parent.  This weekend will be another busy weekend with soccer games for my daughter and prom for my youngest son.  I have absolutely zero details about plans for the prom from this young man of very few words, but I had to laugh when I pushed him on it last night, because his frustration seems to be boiling over.  I said to him that his mom and I needed to know where pictures were, he stopped, looked at me and said, “Look dad, the plans have changed 5 times this week alone.  I am done asking because the girls in our group are all mad at each other. They keep changing the plans on each other and I am done being in the middle of this.  When I know anything for sure, I will let you know”.  First off, I was stunned because for the last 3 years, the most I have heard him speak is 5 words at a time.  Our conversations revolve around food or him wanting to know when food is coming his way. Secondly, I wanted to hug him because I thought we were about to engage in a conversation, but all I could say was, “O.K., when you know anything…”  I choked.  I couldn’t continue the conversation because he took me off guard.  5 words was all that I could get out.  For those of you that know me, that is a miracle in and of itself.  Anyways, I will let you know if he actually attends.

And then there was this…..

Baseball has been special in my life.  I love, but more importantly, respect the game for what it has done for me.  Last Saturday, my oldest played his last collegiate game.  He is officially retired.  After waiting in the bitter cold for the players to conclude their group huddle, he walked into the stands and gave me a hug.  This time, he was the one who cried.

Have a good week.
