Dear Families,
We're looking forward to our Willow Grove Window to the World event, this coming Thursday! This has always been an extremely heartwarming, positive, community-building event and we know this year will not disappoint. Our families who have volunteered are busy preparing for the evening. Thank you so much for your time and energy to share with us all!
Hope to see many of you there!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jenny Smith, Principal

NEW *MAP Testing Update*
This is a follow-up to the message sent on Wednesday, 12/6, concerning the technology issues that impacted the administration of Kindergarten/First Grade NWEA MAP testing for some students. We are rescheduling the MAP assessment for those students who did not finish. The retest day is Tuesday, 12/12. Students who completed the assessment will not be tested on that day.
NEW *Newcomer Coffee and Conversation*
District 96 hosts a Newcomer Coffee & Conversation for parents and guardians of newly registered students, to give them an opportunity to ask questions and share information about their transition.
This year’s Coffee starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Ivy Hall Elementary School (Mat Room), 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.
It is an informal opportunity for these new parents and guardians to ask questions and share their thoughts ~ with other parents and staff ~ about their experiences in the district. These parents might be experiencing the District’s social customs and teaching practices for the first time, just as their students have, and can glean from the experiences of others.
New parents/guardians who missed the New Family Tours in August are encouraged to attend this conversation. Those who did attend the tours are welcome to join this conversation to share how they are adjusting to the District 96 culture.
Coffee and other refreshments will be served.
For planning purposes, RSVP by December 13 at https://forms.gle/Kn5SkyzZFbHgtyCn7.
This is an event only for parents and guardians.
Got questions? Email Lubna K. Andrabi, Community Parent Liaison, at [email protected].
NEW *Winter Parties*
Our PTO winter parties are coming up on December 21st. They are scheduled for 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM for all kindergarten classes and all AM sections of our blended, ECSE, and structured classes. Parties will be held from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM for all PM sections of blended preschool. Please note that per district policy, only volunteers on the volunteer list will be permitted in the building (sorry no siblings, friends, or relatives). Also, note that all parties in the district are snack-free, so no food or treats may be brought in or sent home with students in goody bags.
NEW *PTO Updates*
In the latest edition of the PTO blog, December’s Dine Out Night at GYG, Culture Fair, Movie Night Save the Date, and more! For specific information please read the latest edition of the WG PTO Blog.
REPEAT *Winter Spirit Days - Begin Friday, December 15
REPEAT *Willow Grove Window to the World Cultural Fair Update*
This is a reminder to all to save the date of December 14th from 6-7:30 PM. This will be a night to remember. All families are encouraged to wear clothing that represents their culture. For some, this may mean special, customary garments, while for others it means dressing up to make it a special night. This isn't required. It just adds to the fun. Any attire is welcome!
