Special Willow Grove Message

Dear Willow Grove Early Learning Center Families,

We are so fortunate in District 96 to have an early learning center where learning and supporting young children can be our sole focus.

Because our structure differs from that in our elementary schools, there are some implications for what we are able and unable to do when we phase into a hybrid model (AM/PM split) for in-person learning.

When your child was assigned to a Willow Grove class, it was with your remote or in-person learning plan selection in mind. The classroom assignment your child has–either in-person or full remote–reflects that choice, with all of your student’s classmates having the same learning plan selection. Thus, your child’s teacher teaches either remote students or in-person students, according to your choice and the resulting placement.

If, since making your learning plan choice, your family has experienced a significant change in circumstances or is experiencing extenuating circumstances that impact your child’s ability to come to Willow Grove in person or to continue to stay remote, please submit a request to change HERE by midnight on Monday, Oct. 5th.  All requests will be reviewed and families will be informed of the decision via email by Friday, Oct. 9th.

Before doing so, however, it is important to note that approval of your request depends on the availability of seats to maintain a safe environment and the particular circumstance that is guiding the change request. Also important: An approval for a remote or in-person change of learning plan assignment will require a teacher change.  For this reason, we ask that you very carefully consider a request to change, as we greatly value the teacher/student and classroom community relationships already formed and currently developing.  If you are utilizing district transportation, please also know that it does take about five school days to re-route bussing to accommodate the addition of your child, so anticipate you may need to provide transport for a couple of days while it’s being arranged.  Alternatively, you may keep your child remote until the transportation begins.

If you are not requesting a change from your prior summer survey submission, please do not complete this form.  This is only for change requests.

Respectfully,

Jenny Smith, Principal
