Spring is Finally Here!

It's been a joy seeing the kids play outside more.  Always crossing our fingers for sunshine!  Our kindergarten students have been practicing leadership skills at recess!  Each class is taking turns setting up an obstacle course for the other classes during recess.  They are in charge of staging the course, calling the other classes over, managing the course, and clean up!    They've been doing a great job!

In addition to leading the way on the obstacle course setup, each kindy class is leading the full school in our morning announcements.  I've made my way around to almost all classrooms and will finish up by the end of the school year.  The kindergarten students are proudly leading the Pledge of Allegance and our Willow Grove Bears That Care Pledge over the announcements for all to hear!

Buffalo Grove Police Department Coloring Contest Winner

Congrats to Advay for his terrific coloring, which was recognized by the Buffalo Grove Police Department!

2019 SUMMER READING/ASSIGNMENT–Remember to Read!
We encourage summer reading for all our students. This practice is important–research suggests that students can lose more than two months of academic progress if they don't continue to read during summer months.

Please see SUMMER READING for the parent letter/reading assignment info and suggested reading resources for your student (by grade level).

BLAST OFF To Summer!

It's hard to believe, but summer is getting close!  We'd like to celebrate the end of our school year with the Blast Off to Summer Countdown!  Check out the countdown to see how your child can participate!

Field Day, May 30th

We have Field Day on Thursday, May 30th. Children spend a portion of their day outside. It is advised that you apply sunscreen in the morning. Children can also bring sunscreen, but we cannot apply it. Please practice having your child apply their own sunscreen. It is also advised that you dress your child knowing they'll be in the sun if you are concerned about too much sun, such as wearing a long sleeve, lightweight, light-colored shirt. Children can also wear hats and sunglasses. If the weather looks chilly, please also dress your children appropriately (layers is a great idea). Please have kids wear sneakers/gym shoes as they’ll be running a lot. No sandals, crocs, etc. No water bottles necessary. We provide water for the kids to grab outside.

Thank you to our parent volunteers. Volunteers may not bring additional children or adults. This is also not a day for parent observers unless you are a volunteer, notified by Mrs. O'Gara. Any adult viewing the activities who are not an approved volunteer will be asked to leave, as this is a distraction to both students and staff.
