Encouraging Children to Be Open in a Competitive World
(for parents of KDG–Grade 8)

Willow Grove Early Learning Center

777 Checker Dr., Buffalo Grove, IL  60089

Tues., May 21, 2019

7–8:30 p.m.

Learning is one of the greatest gifts humans have. Many people become discouraged when they don’t know something. This workshop with returning popular guest speaker Dr. Michael Maniacci for parents of children Grades KDG–8 encourages optimism. The focus is on encouraging your child to love learning and to understand that learning is not the same as knowing.

Dr. Maniacci is a licensed clinical psychologist, instructor, and published author whose works have been translated into numerous languages.

All interested adults are welcome. Contact the District 96 Parent Community Liaison Lubna Andrabi with questions, 847.459.4260, ext. 8136, [email protected]

Thank you, PTO & Families!

Thank you to the PTO for putting together the fun family festivities this week for our end of the year family picnic!  What a great turn out!  Thank you one and all for making it.  What a great way to celebrate as we are nearing the close of our school year.

We Need Your Help!

It's enrollment season!  As families move into your neighborhood, let them know it's time to register for the 2019/20 school year.  It isn't uncommon for families to wait until August.  It helps us immensely to secure our classroom sections.  New neighbors?  Spread the word!  Enrollment is happening now.  School offices are open through June.  Registration will continue through July in the District Office at 1050 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.  Also, if you haven't registered your son or daughter and are planning on attending next year, please do so right away.  Thank you!

PTO News

Thank you for coming out to our Family Picnic event!

Yearbooks go home with students on the last day of school.  If your child misses the last day, the office is open all of June.  You may stop by in June to pick it up.  Thank you!

Time is running out to purchase your 2019/20 supply kit!

Click here to read the PTO blog to learn further details about all of this and more!

Warm regards,

BLAST OFF To Summer!

It's hard to believe, but summer is getting close!  We'd like to celebrate the end of our school year with the Blast Off to Summer Countdown!  Check out the countdown to see how your child can participate!

Field Day, May 30th

We have Field Day on Thursday, May 30th. Children spend a portion of their day outside. It is advised that you apply sunscreen in the morning. Children can also bring sunscreen, but we cannot apply it. Please practice having your child apply their own sunscreen. It is also advised that you dress your child knowing they'll be in the sun if you are concerned about too much sun, such as wearing a long sleeve, lightweight, light-colored shirt. Children can also wear hats and sunglasses. If the weather looks chilly, please also dress your children appropriately (layers is a great idea). Please have kids wear sneakers/gym shoes as they’ll be running a lot. No sandals, crocs, etc. No water bottles necessary. We provide water for the kids to grab outside.

Thank you to our parent volunteers. Volunteers may not bring additional children or adults. This is also not a day for parent observers unless you are a volunteer, notified by Mrs. O'Gara. Any adult viewing the activities who are not an approved volunteer will be asked to leave, as this is a distraction to both students and staff.
