Family Educator Conferences Update

At this time, our live link to sign-up for conferences is closed. If you have a need to add, change, or cancel a conference, please reach out to the administrative assistant in the office. Thank you!

CHILD CARE UPDATE

If you didn't see last week's message, we have childcare available during conferences.  This will allow parents to attend conferences and even parent workshops with some support, as our fall conferences are provided for parents/guardians only, and not for students to attend.  Unfortunately, we've had a turn of events and we do not have childcare on Tuesday of conferences, between 2-4:00 PM.  We will have childcare for the remainder of our conference slots.  We are sorry this didn't work out for this brief time period if it impacted your plans.

Here are further details if you missed it from last week:

Child Care: Child care will be available at each of the elementary schools during conferences.  Children ages 2 and up are welcome to join District 96 staff who will look over them so that parents can attend conferences and parent workshops.  There will be a variety of quiet activities available for children to participate in. Stop by, sign your child in and you are all set! Click on the following link for more information.  Child Care

Again, we will NOT have childcare on Tuesday, November 20th, between the hours of 2-4:00 PM.  We will, however, throughout the remainder of the conferences.  Thank you for your understanding.

PARENT WORKSHOPS

We'd love to see you at our Parent Workshops available during conferences!

Parent Workshops:  Instructional coaches will provide learning opportunities for parents during each day of conferences.  Please click on the following link provided to learn more about the workshop sessions and times.  Willow Grove Parent Workshop Schedule

Progress Reports Live Today at 3:00 PM

An Important Note About Student Progress Reports
Your student’s progress report is available for you to access online today–Friday, Nov. 16, after 3 p.m. If you need assistance, please CLICK HERE for instructions to view your student’s progress report, to switch between your children’s progress reports, and more.

An important note for parents:
When standards repeat in more than one trimester we do not expect that students will master the knowledge and skills indicated until the last trimester in which the standard is reported. It is likely that many students will earn a score of Developing (D for elementary) or 2 for middle school until the final trimester in which the standard is addressed.

For standards in literacy courses that repeat in more than one trimester, we report based on progress toward end-of-year expectations. Your child's score for each trimester indicates his or her progress toward end-of-year expectations, so you have consistent information regarding your child’s current progress, compared to where he or she should be later in the school or at the end of the school year.

We assess students using text we expect they will be able to master by the end of the school year, so the progress report indicates your child's progress toward that expectation. A steady progression toward mastery is what you should expect. For example, an expected progression on the report card for a standard that repeats in more than one trimester could be Not Mastering (1) or Developing (2) in Trimester 1, Developing (2) in Trimester 2, and Mastering (3) in Trimester 3.

Lost & Found

We will have lost and found items out for parents to locate missing items over conferences.  Please make sure you take a look!

Would you like to avoid having your child's items in Lost & Found?  LABEL EVERYTHING!  Hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, coats, hoodies/jackets.  We do our best but imagine how often your child misplaces things at home and multiply that by over 300 little ones.  We need your help.  Put your child's names on all of their items.  Extra clothing, lunchboxes, backpacks, snacks, water bottles...get those Sharpies going!  Thank you!!

*This is pretty adorable...but permanent markers work just fine, too!

Extra Clothing - For your child's cubby and donations needed

The weather has changed and it's COLD!  Extra clothing for your child at school should now be winter.  We are little and we do have accidents of many kinds (spills are not uncommon!).  Nothing comforts a child more than being able to change into their own clothes.  Update your child's extra clothing items at school for the cold winter months ahead.

Also, our nurse has given out all of our extra clothes for kids who need them for accidents and we are plum out!  Please, if your child has come home with items, we would like them back to help others.  Also, if you have any pants to donate that your child has grown out of (girls or boys), we'd love some.  Just send them with your child to school with a note to our office that it's for our nurse.  We truly appreciate it, as do the parents whose child will eventually need them, along with some TLC!  Thank you!
