Willow Grove Principal's Message 3/9/2018

Thank you!

Parents, we love seeing you at conferences.  We appreciate all of the support you give and enjoy discussing your child's learning with you.  Thank you for coming!  Thank you, also, to the PTO and parent volunteers who provided us a beautiful fiesta meal that served our hard-working teachers throughout their extended day on Thursday.  You provided so much, we even were able to enjoy it for lunch today!  Thank you!

Toys at School

We are noticing an increase of children bringing toys to school.  I know this doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but when children bring toys to school it can (and does) lead to many issues that disrupt the educational setting.  This is a request to ask you to check your child's backpack for toys (any toys, including technology and trading cards, like Pokemon) and remove them to stay at home.  If you're wondering the "why" behind this, keep reading.  If you just trust me, you may proceed to the next topic. ;-)

Children argue over toys, they "trade" toys, not being mature enough to understand the value of their items, and on the bus they drop them, causing several young children to get out of their seats to retrieve the dropped toy.  In addition, toys roll towards the driver and can obstruct the gas/brake pedals.  Within the school day, toys are very easily lost.  Children also have a hard time putting them away and "sneak" them into class, taking time for the teacher to solve the problem, instead of helping students learn.

We appreciate your help!
