Superintendent's Message, December 9, 2022

Dear Families:

In the wake of a tragedy that claimed the lives of a student and her family, KCSD96 is partnering with Pedia Trust to host a webinar for anyone needing advice on how to support their children through grief, trauma, and tragedy.  As a parent, I have wondered if I am answering questions appropriately, reassuring my children in a supportive manner, and helping them to navigate feelings or anxieties that may arise.  While there is no correct or perfect answer to parenting, I have appreciated opportunities to gather the expertise of others to help lead my family.

This session will be led by a psychologist and a pediatrician from Pedia Trust.  It will be hosted on Wednesday, December 14th at 7 p.m.  On Monday, we will send an additional email with a Zoom link and a form to proactively gather any questions on this topic you would like answered as there may not be time to ask additional questions on the webinar.  Additionally, you are welcome to simply listen in even if you have not found your family impacted by this tragedy but would like to learn.

I am again sharing links below that you may find helpful.  We are here as your educational team to provide any support and care you may need. Please contact us if you or your child needs assistance.

Take care,

Katie Sheridan, D96 Superintendent of School
