E-NEWS 96, September 8, 2023

District 96 Families:

… and just like that:  A few more scattered leaves are falling to the ground and some trees have just a blush of red as the outside temps dipped just a bit this week. Is fall really trying to slowly tip-toe into our lives?

Enjoy it, as we settle into routines and attention turns to all things fall …

Wanted:  Parents to Join GCI and TEP

KCSD 96 invites parents to consider joining our two parent groups, Thought Exchange Partnership (TEP) and Guiding Coalition of Interculturalism (GCI).

TEP offers parents opportunities to share ideas and receive information about instruction, programs and initiatives. Understanding parent perceptions is helpful for planning and communications.

The purpose of GCI is to help form a learning community that reflects and connects the KCSD96 values of diversity and inclusion; align parents, educators, and students in cultural and educational experiences; and engage with a wide audience.

Learn more about both organizations here:

If interested, please contact Community Parent Liaison Lubna K. Andrabi at [email protected].

In Our Schools

Learning to Read at Prairie:  First graders in Miss Furlett's classes worked on literacy this morning, identifying a main theme or big idea (school), as those in Mrs. Giannos class also worked on writing. Prairie 1st Grade Literacy Work ~ September 8 2023 around the big idea and practicing "heart words" ~ those that they might have challenges learning to initially recognize ~ and using hand motions to 'break' compound words into two or to create new compound words.

(And, what first-grade day would be complete without at least one student losing a tooth?)
