Is your child missing something?

Is your child missing something?

Happy Friday, everyone!

Stay warm and wrapped up over this weekend and the coming days.

Which reminds me ... staying wrapped up and warm. ... Your child isn't missing something to wrap up in, is he or she? If so, you might consider checking the "Lost & Found" at your child's school.

In at least one district school, there's a growing assortment ~ of coats, jackets, vests, sweatshirts, caps, gloves, water bottles and even a whole backpack and teal-colored earphones ~ that wasn't there a few weeks ago.  The few items that once lay on a single table now take up two tables, a clothing rack AND a cart.

Families, if you can, take a peek: You might be quite surprised at what you find!

Twin Groves

Can’t wait to see how some Twin Groves students finish polishing off the narratives they started working on before Winter Break.  Language Arts teachers Mr. Weiland reminded them to use descriptive language and all the other great writing tools they know ...

Meanwhile, Mrs. Bildstein’s 8th-grade Language Arts students continued digging into Pip’s experiences and other major themes in Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations.”

Overseen:  Colorful and copious Post-Its on many of the students’ novel pages!

Willow Grove

Kudos to Willow Grove Kindergarten teacher Ms. Longman! … A new student to her class was met with her very special social story book ~ which not only welcomed her to the school and this country, but also introduced the new student to her class.

“This was not the first time I had made something like this,” Ms. Longman shared in an email.  “I made this social story for [this student] to welcome her to school in the United States.  It serves as a social-emotional tool during her transition, provides some language supports for her as well as help her to feel loved in her new school and class! Her parents let me know her favorite characters so that I could include them (Tangled, Mickey and Minnie) to personalize it. Social stories are not my invention--they are a wonderful support for many students!”
