Dear Families, Staff, and Students ...

Here we are at the end of another incredible school year! I want to reflect on our achievements and express my gratitude for your presence and support in the education of our children. Our journey this year has been marked by resilience, growth, and a shared commitment to excellence. KCSD 96 Supt. Kathryn E. Sheridan

Our mission to ensure every child achieves his or her maximum potential is a big goal that we only reach together. I am proud to see our students' remarkable progress in an environment where learning knows no boundaries. Our environment in KCSD96 is created by YOU, our present and engaged families, and our expert and caring staff.

Recognizing and celebrating our successes, big and small, is one of my favorite parts of our work. From academic achievements to personal growth milestones, I am so proud of our students and staff for coming together and making this past year noteworthy. Because of your hard work and commitment, KCSD96 continues to thrive and advance toward our vision of becoming the premier elementary school district in the nation.

As we prepare for the new school year, we continue to seek out and implement evidence-based strategies and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. We are setting high standards for ourselves and our students, who are exploring, inquiring, and excelling within and beyond the classroom.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Your support, collaboration, and dedication are remarkable.

I am wishing you all a restful and enjoyable summer!

Every Child, Every School, Every Day,

Kathryn E. Sheridan

Summer Reading: Keep It Going

As summer approaches, we encourage you to help your children dive into the joy of reading. Research consistently shows that children who read at least four books over the summer are better prepared for the upcoming school year and avoid the "summer slide” — a decline in reading skills that can occur during the break. Whether your child is an eager reader or a reluctant one, summer offers a unique opportunity to explore new worlds through books and foster a lifelong love of reading.

Our curated summer reading lists include a variety of genres from generational classics to new releases in dystopian, science fiction, historical fiction, and nonfiction, ensuring there's something for every reader.

  • Summer reading lists for all Early Childhood- 5th grade students have been updated on our website. Click HERE for the link to the website directly.
  • Additionally, all current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students are required to complete a summer reading assignment for Middle School. Click HERE for this assignment:

Happy Reading!
