IN OUR SCHOOLS

Heart Aware:  In Prairie’s PE classes, students are learning about the why and ways to maintain a healthy heart, as they embark on the annual American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge.

Problem-Solving to Design a Hat:  Students in Mrs. Desai's Prairie 2nd grade classroom acquainted themselves with a paper plate, a piece of foil, a brown paper bag and some water, to determine how each might best be used to create a hat to protect them from the sun.  In class today, the students touched the items to determine which was softest to them and which might be the most absorbent of water (sweat).  They use more of their problem-solving skills in class next week when they design their “hats.”
