Parent Night for 5th Graders Transitioning to Middle School

On Monday, April 24, parents of 5th Graders can join the “Transition to Middle School,” where they can get answers to questions they may have about their student entering sixth-grade at a District middle school.

This information-packed virtual program begins at 7 p.m. April 24, 2023 (via Zoom). 

Hear from Twin Groves Principal Jessica Barnes and Woodlawn Principal Greg Grana, who will discuss academics, extracurricular opportunities, and changes that middle school years bring. A highlight?  Current 6th-grade panelists sharing their perspectives.

IN THE SCHOOLS

D96 Orchestra Festival:  Last Friday, District 96 students participated in the D96 Orchestra Festival, co-hosted by Cara Anderson, orchestra director at Prairie and Twin Groves schools.  The students worked with Kevin Carroll, Large Group Guest Clinician; Carrie Anselmo, Violin 1 Sectional Leader; Paul Jenkin, Violin 2 Sectional Leader; Izabella Gieron, Viola Sectional Leader; and Elizabeth Jordan, Cello Sectional Leader.

Hard at Work: On the District’s last Institute Day earlier this month, teachers used the No-School Day to learn how to be more effective at their craft. Here, they all took a well-deserved break for lunch at Woodlawn Middle School.
