District 96 Families:

This week's cooler temperatures reminded us that this upcoming month is truly the heart of fall.  During this month, we also acknowledge our schools’ leaders ~ Jennifer Smith, Michelle Garlick, Mike Senatore, Karen L. Cumpata, Christine Pfaff, Jessica Barnes and Greg Grana during National Principals Month.  (They enjoy great support from our Assistant Principals: Megan Payne, Julie Shaver, Samantha Heinrich, Joshua Higgins, Winifred Clausell, Lauren Delahanty and Jessica Groncki.)

This month also starts with several days of No School for students ~ from Wednesday to the following Monday, Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 10.

  • October 2 (11:55 p.m.):  Deadline to sign up for Family-Educator Conferences (Oct. 6 & 7)
  • October 5:  NO SCHOOL (District holiday)
  • October 6 & 7:  No School for Students
  • October 6 & 7:  Family/Educator Conferences
  • October 10:  NO SCHOOL (District holiday)
  • October 15:  Vision forms due (for 2022-23 students who entered kindergarten OR are new to Illinois in Grades 1–8)
  • October 17:  "Building Resilient, Self-Motivated Children" with Author Ned Johnson (7 p.m., via Zoom)

 

See You at Fall Family–Educator Conferences 

The conferences will take place on Thursday, October 6, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., and Friday, October 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  

Please see the Principal Message for your child's school for details on how you access the video conference through Meet the Teacher and how to add other parents/guardians to the conferences.

Meet the Teacher sign up will close at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 2. After that, you must contact your child's school office in order to schedule a conference or make a change to an existing conference.

Want to glean strategies to build resilient and self-motivated children?

Join Parent-2-Parent Network's session with Ned Johnson, co-author of "What Do You Say? How To Talk With Kids To Build Motivation, Stress Tolerance, and a Happy Home" and the national best-seller "The Self-Driven Child."  Johnson is founder of Prep Matters, as well as a sought-after speaker who has been featured in The WashIngton Post and US News & World Report and on NPR.

This virtual session is 7 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022.
