5th and 6th Grade Placement Data Updated

Each year, 5th Grade students take several assessments to help place them in the appropriate 6th Grade math and reading/language arts classes in middle school.

Kindergarten Pre-Registration ongoing

If you have a child who will be eligible for Kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year, you are invited to pre-register your child.  Eligible students must be district residents who will turn 5 years old by Sept. 1 2022.

Happening Monday: “Simplifying Stevenson”

At least 125 people have already signed up for Monday night’s “Simplifying Stevenson” virtual discussion, a chance for KCSD parents of 8th graders to hear what it’s like to be a student at Stevenson High School.

Participating parents will hear this information from some current Stevenson High School students and SHS Principal Mr. Troy Gobble.  This free event starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb.7.

In Schools This Week

Ivy Hall Elementary School

Ivy Hall Music teacher Ms. Coleman celebrated the start of the Chinese New Year on Tuesday by introducing her students to streamers, which they moved in synch to music and to shapes on a whiteboard. The students are also learning to play the xylophone, which they practiced on earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Ms. Kirberger’s students dove into Lucy and Stephen Hawkings’ “George’s Secret Key to the Universe,” as they discussed aspects of the characters’ personalities.

Prairie Elementary School

During their special to the Prairie Library, Mrs. Giannos' first-graders explored the shelves for treasures and enjoyed burying their heads in to untold stories or patiently waiting in line to check out books with Mrs. Kelly.
