District 96 families, we’ve ended our second week readjusting to being back at school and meeting some of our soon-to-be new students in Willow Grove’s Kindergarten Pre-Registration on Thursday. (Please note that Kindergarten Pre-Registration continues; see post below.)
We’ve got a long weekend to catch our breath, as schools are closed Monday for the federal holiday, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
We’ve got a full week ahead of us in the coming week.

Kindergarten Pre-Registration Continues
Families of 2022-23 Kindergartners: Did you pre-register your incoming Kindergartner yet? You still have time. But you only have through Monday, Jan. 31, to register to receive the special, one-of-a-kind Kindergartner T-shirt.

Stevenson: Everything You Wanted to Know, and Then Some!
In early February, parents of KCSD 8th graders can learn everything they want to know about their child entering Stevenson High School.
The occasion is this year’s “Simplifying Stevenson,” a virtual Q&A session with some Stevenson High School students and SHS principal Mr. Troy Gobble. The session starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7.
Parents will be able to ask students how they choose their classes and extracurricular activities; make summer school decisions; transition from middle school; and balance the workload; among other questions.

ISBE Wants Your Input on State Assessments
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) wants to hear from you ~ parents, educators, stakeholders ~ on ways to improve the state assessment system.
Working with their partners at the Center for Assessment, ISBE designed a survey to collect feedback. There is also a short video with the survey that provides some important background information you might find useful in completing the survey.

This survey is one part of a larger process. ISBE representatives will be meeting with stakeholders and planning to organize some advisory groups in early 2022, from which they hope to present recommendations to the State Board in spring 2022.
