PARENT CONNECTION AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO NOTE
• Parent Network Conversation: Mon., Feb. 11, 9–10:30 a.m.

Meet D96 parents for some good conversation on topics of interest, including highlights from the book Kid Confidence by Kennedy-Moore. This book focuses on helping your child make friends, build confidence, and develop self-esteem. All welcome–reading the book is not necessary to join this discussion! Want to borrow a copy of the book? Call the District Office at 847.459.4260 or send email to District 96 Community Parent Liaison Lubna Andrabi.

Growing Up Too Fast: Thurs., Feb. 28, 7–8:30 p.m.
Popular guest expert Dr. Michael Maniacci will return to District 96 for a workshop for parents on the topic Growing Up Too Fast. Learn the biological and psychological effects on children coping with uncertainty, fear, and too much information and some strategies for coping and finding balance. Open to all interested adults. No RSVP/pre-registration.
Thurs., Feb. 28, Twin Groves Middle School Learning Ctr., 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., BG, 7–8:30 p.m. Questions? Contact D96 Community Parent Liaison Lubna Andrabi.

WHAT EFFECT HAVE SNOW/COLD CLOSINGS HAD ON THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR?
The effect of snow/cold school closings so far this year on the end date of the 2018–2019 school year calendar still is being considered. Once determined, that info will be communicated  through multiple means, including E-NEWS 96 and Principal’s Messages.

KCSD96 TEXT MESSAGE OPT-IN PROCESS  Have you texted YES?
District 96 uses the School Messenger system to communicate with our parent community by email and–in some instances–also by text message and/or phone call. If you would like to receive text messages from School District 96 when the subject and nature of the communication warrant our sending them (to advise you of a late-returning bus, for example), it’s necessary for you first to have sent a text message of Y or YES to this District 96 short code number: 67587. Or, if you prefer, use your mobile phone to scan the QR code in this School Messenger FLYER (English & Spanish) and send your Y or YES reply.
To opt out of our text messages, simply reply STOP to any text message District 96 sends you.

Please be advised that standard message and data rates for text messaging may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
