Twin Groves Seventh Grader Earns Honors in Robotics Competition

KCSD96 applauds Twin Groves seventh grader Anoushka Rai, who won multiple awards in the 2021 Lake County Robotics Competition.

Anoushka won first-place awards in the Autonomous Mode, Driver Controlled Mode, Overall competition, and Creativity categories.

She was one of 15 students who participated in the competition, which involved designing and building a robot to perform autonomous and driver-controlled tasks using a Tetrix robotics kit.  Students were mentored by College of Lake County engineering interns and staff.

Work in the competition involved learning the Arduino programming language; as this was Anoushka’s first Robotics Competition, there was a lot to learn.

“She has been working hard on it for the past few months. The College of Lake County Engineering interns and Engineering Department co-chair Rob Twardock were mentoring and were very pleased with the progress she made. It was more challenging as all this was happening virtually," noted her mother in sharing news of the award. “It definitely is a proud moment for Twin Groves Middle School. Anoushka is excited that she could represent her school in this competition and make all of us proud.”

The Lake County Robotics Competition is an annual event hosted by the CLC Engineering Transfer Department.
