LOOKING AHEAD/PLANNING AHEAD…
• WHEN WILL THE 2017–18 SCHOOL YEAR START?
At their Feb. 21 meeting, the Board of Education will select among and approve a calendar option presented by the Calendar Committee.

On Wed., Feb. 22, you can find the calendar for the next school year–and also the calendar for the 2018–19 school year–on the home page of the District website (www.kcsd96.org). To find the calendars (avail. on Feb. 22), scroll below the large photo on the home page to view the 2-column list of Quick Links. The Calendar links will be added there.

• WHEN IS REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS?
If your student currently attends a D96 school and will attend a D96 school in the next school year, on March 13 you’ll be sent an email with a unique link to carry out 2017–18 registration online.

• WHO NEEDS TO PROVE RESIDENCY?
Attention: Parents of all current KDG and 5th-Graders
Even those who proved residency at the start of the current school year–and even those who have other students currently attending KCSD96 schools–still need to prove residency again for current kindergartners and current 5th-graders.

A convenient time to prove residency is during parent/teacher conferences that will be held Mar. 9 and Mar. 10, if you cannot do so sooner. Prove residency at the school your student now attends.

How to prove residency:
At Willow Grove or the elementary school your 5th grader attends now, please visit the office and present the following:
a current monthly mortgage or lease statement or property tax bill
AND
a current utility bill
On site, the administrative assistant will also provide a form for you to initial and sign.

It’s important! If you don’t prove residency by Mar. 10 for your current KDG or 5th grader, your student’s online registration form link will not be emailed when registration opens on Mar. 13 and he/she will not be assigned a teacher for the 2017-18 school year until you do so.

ERIN’S LAW –APR. 4 PROGRAM FOR PARENTS OF KDG–GRADE 5
Mark your calendar for this informational program.
Illinois law known as Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades Pre-K through 12. Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©.

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult’s touching him or her is not the child’s fault.

An informational opportunity for parents with Mr. Pacini will be held at 6 p.m. on Tues., Apr. 4, in the Mat Room at Ivy Hall School, 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove. Attendees will be able to preview the information Mr. Pacini will present to KCSD96 elementary students. MORE INFO

Elementary presentations by Mr. Pacini are on the following schedule:
Country Meadows - Apr. 7; Ivy Hall - Apr. 10; Prairie - Apr. 11; Kildeer - Apr. 12; and Willow Grove Early Learning Center - April 17. PARENT INFORMATIONAL LETTER (SPANISH)
