The tournament honors Illinois wrestling standout District 21 Cooper Middle School alumnus Lindsey Durlacher, who passed away following an accident in June 2011.  A State Champion in 8th grade, he earned two more state championships at Buffalo Grove High School and was All American and a National Runner-up in his senior year at the University of Illinois.  He went on to wrestle internationally and earned a bronze medal as a USA World Greco Team member in 2006.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Lindsey Durlacher Scholarship Fund, to help support local athletes who want to wrestle at the college level. As a collegiate and post-collegiate wrestler, Durlacher qualified for an unprecedented four Senior USA Maccabi Games and earned gold medals in Greco Roman and Freestyle wrestling at each.
