Notice of Destruction of Temporary Student Records

 

In accordance with the Illinois School Student Records Act, Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 will begin the secure destruction of eligible temporary student records, including paper Individualized Education Program (IEP) records and paper-related service documentation.

Records eligible for destruction include temporary records of students who graduated, transferred, or permanently withdrew from the District more than 5 years ago. As part of this process, the District will review paper temporary records of students who left the District during the 2020–2021 school year or earlier to determine their eligibility for destruction. Parents/guardians and eligible former students who wish to obtain copies of their temporary student records must submit a written request to the District within 30 days of the publication of this notice. After that time, eligible temporary student records will be securely destroyed in accordance with the Illinois School Student 

Records Act and the District’s approved records retention procedures.

Although the District no longer requires these temporary records after the applicable retention period, they may be valuable to former students for purposes such as Social Security benefits, vocational rehabilitation services, post-secondary educational accommodations, military enlistment, or other personal needs.

This notice applies only to temporary student records. Permanent student records will continue to be retained in accordance with Illinois law. (BPS101)
