Kildeer Principal's Message- March 6th

Kildeer Principal's Message- March 6th

Dear Kildeer Families,

Today is all about your children. Please take some time this weekend to discuss the report card and all of the celebrations along the way! We are so proud of our Kildeer cougars!

Speaking of celebrations, congratulations to our fourth graders! You did an AMAZING job at the musical last night. The focus was on recycling and "going green" which was a great reminder for us all.

This week we've continued to make hand washing and preventative measures a priority at Kildeer to keep everyone healthy. In fact, C.J. and Nurse Allie came together to do a litte demonstration. Feel free to watch this as a family to see a great example of washing your hands thoroughly! (I bet our 4th graders have a tip for how to go green during this video!)

Here's a link to a resource "Just for Kids: A Comic Exploring the New Coronavirus"  developed following an NPR educational radio broadcast (3 min.) written for kids. This informational comic emphasizes the importance of handwashing and also addresses potential prejudices about countries and people with the virus. This includes the link to the NPR 3-minute radio clip. (This resource is shared through NSPRA–National School PR Association.)

The American Heart Association Appreciates Our Kildeer Community

Kildeer students, families, and faculty–you make a positive difference!

The American Heart Association has expressed appreciation to our Kildeer School Physical Education Department (Mr. Emde, Ms. Groessl, and Mr. Ostrowski) for $8473.26 raised through your very generous donations to our Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) event through Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart fundraisers held in February.

These activities not only help our students understand the importance of lifelong heart-healthy practices, but also show them that their effort helps fund very important scientific research and education benefitting many people and their families.

We thank our PE Department for their work to offer this opportunity and our Kildeer families for supporting it so generously!

I can't wait for next week. Last year was our first time hosting collaborative conferences and it was such a great opportunity to hear directly from our students. This type of conference allows us the "undivided attention" to see learning from a student perspective.

Students will have an opportunity to practice presenting to their buddies on Tuesday, March 10th! Please send your child in Kildeer colors or cougar gear that day!

We look forward to seeing you next week to celebrate together. Also, don't forget to set clocks ahead this weekend!

Fondly,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
