Kildeer Principal's Message- October 26th

Kildeer Principal's Message- October 26th

Hello Kildeer Families!

Do you ever wake up in the morning and count your blessings? I've been doing that all week. I continue to be amazed by this fabulous staff and our amazing students. For our staff, I've had the pleasure of collaborating during team meetings this week to hear the great things happening with instruction. Our teachers are very motivated to ensure that we are pushing students to demonstrate high levels of growth. I'm very proud to have such a dedicated group of staff to work with! Did you know I not only write one blog a week to our parents, but I also have one for our staff as well? In that blog, we celebrate birthdays, submit shout-outs, and share cool things from the classroom in my "cross-pollination corner". It's a great way for us to learn from each other!

In regards to the students, I have loved being in the classrooms this week. I've seen some really great things with student learning such as small group reading lessons, hands-on with science, and group projects shared in a small setting. I had to cancel my picnic with Ms. Rickel's class on Wednesday at the last minute. What did they do? They took a cute video and pictures to share with me anyway. The picnics are such a special time for me to connect with students so I was disappointed. However, the pictures made my day and I look forward to rescheduling! Thanks to Mr. Lyles' class for the fabulous picnic today!

*NEW & REPEAT INFORMATION*

Parade: Please join us for our annual costume parade at Kildeer on Wednesday, October 31st! Weather permitting, our Halloween Parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. We ask that all spectators remain in the FRONT PARKING LOT of our building during the parade and that you do not cover your faces with masks while viewing the parade; this is for the safety of our students.  If it's a rainy day, we'll parade indoors and the event will be for staff and students ONLY.  We're hoping for a beautiful day!

Costumes: As a reminder for that perfect ensemble, here are the costume expectations so we can make sure that we have a wonderful celebration that afternoon at Kildeer!
Students should bring costumes for the parade to school but costumes are not to be worn to school.  The costume should be “kid friendly” so that each child may change into the costume independently after lunch.  It’s recommended that students put costumes on over their clothes so they are changed quickly in their classrooms and do not need to fully change (hard to fit all the students in the bathroom at once!).
ANY HAIR COLOR OR MAKEUP MUST BE APPLIED BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL. Thanks for keeping it simple to not distract from our day of learning! Extra make-up or hair color should not be brought to school.

Costumes should be “kid friendly” in their content, too.  NO MASKS, WEAPONS (real or fake!), BLOOD, SUPER SCARINESS, OR GENERAL ICKINESS should be a part of a costume.  Also, we assume all costumes will follow our school dress code so NO BARE TUMMIES, please.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  Why do we say "no masks" - well we need to make sure that we can identify each child at all times and that each child can see appropriately so no one gets injured!
Thank you for your support in a successful celebration!
