Teaching and Learning Department

The Teaching and Learning Department at Kildeer Countryside School District 96 (KCSD96) is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive, research-based educational experience that fosters student achievement and growth. The department oversees curriculum development, instructional strategies, and professional development across the district's schools.

KCSD96 emphasizes evidence-based practices, utilizing instructional coaching models in literacy, math, science, and technology. Coaches collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and implement differentiated instruction, ensuring that all students meet high academic standards.

A hallmark of the department is the Spanish/English Dual Language Program, initiated in the 2019–2020 school year. This program offers students the opportunity to develop academic proficiency in both languages, with instruction evenly split between Spanish and English. Enrollment begins in kindergarten and continues through middle school, promoting bilingualism and cultural competence.

The department also supports specialized programs, including special education services, acceleration opportunities, and Title I and III programs, catering to the diverse needs of the student population.

Through its commitment to innovative instruction and continuous improvement, the Teaching and Learning Department ensures that every student in KCSD96 is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for success.
