Board of Education member Lauren Gordon's passing on Feb. 2, 2016, is a deep loss to the District 96 community. HER LEGACY is the reminder to challenge ourselves as individuals and as a school district of leaders to look continually for new ways to grow and excel.

Residents of Kildeer Countryside School District 96 interested in applying for the vacancy created by Mrs. Gordon's passing are requested by noon Thurs., Feb. 25, 2016, to hand deliver (1) a letter of interest and (2) a resume and to complete (3) an application:

A candidate shall, on the date of his or her appointment, be a citizen of the United States of America, 18 years of age or older, a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding his or her appointment, and a registered voter. (After the selected candidate's appointment, it will be necessary for him or her to complete a STATEMENT OF ECONOMIC INTEREST with the Lake County Clerk.)

Letters of interest should include a brief biographical background as well as work experience.

The candidate's letter of interest, resume, and application must be received no later than noon on Thursday, February 25, 2016, to be considered for appointment to this vacancy.

The Board will interview selected candidates in early March and appoint an individual at an upcoming Board meeting to fill the vacancy. A special election must be held in April 2017, however, to fill the position for the 2-year balance of the term.
