Superintendent Search
During Fall 2021, KCSD 96's Board of Education is conducting a search for its next Superintendent of Schools.
The Board of Education is using a search firm to organize the search for a successor to the current Superintendent, Mrs. Julie Schmidt. The District plans to have its next Superintendent of Schools identified by mid-December.

The Superintendent Search Process
Sept. 8 - Oct. 8: The online Superintendent Search Survey opens, allowing community members to offer input on suggested priorities for the District and important characteristics of a new leader.
Sept. 13 - Oct. 8: Consultants conduct two Open Forums and meet with 19 different Focus Groups ~ who represent parents, students, certified and non-certified staff and community and business leaders ~ for their input on the next Superintendent of Schools.
Oct. 19, 2021: Consultants present the "Leadership Profile" to the Board of Education.
Nov. 2021: Consultants interview selected applicants and present a slate of candidates to the Board of Education.
Dec. 14, 2021: The Board of Education announces the new KCSD96 Superintendent.
UPDATE: At its Dec. 14 Board of Education meeting, the Board announced that Mrs. Kathryn Sheridan would be the District's next School Superintendent. Mrs. Sheridan is the Director of Language and Early Literacy and former middle school assistant principal and elementary school principal.
July 1, 2022: The newly selected Superintendent takes the reins.
