The final blog of 2017 is here!  I am always amazed at how quickly a school year goes by and this year is no exception to that rule. Thank you to all of the Woodlawn parents–I am honored to be the principal of this school and am always appreciative of your unwavering support. I look forward to my first blog of the 17-18 school year, a mere 10 weeks away.

A Note From Nurse Crawford

Dear Woodlawn Families,
As the school year draws to a close, please be reminded that no medication will be sent home with your student. This includes prescription as well as over-the-counter medication.

If you wish to pick up your student’s medication, please do so during the last week of classes.  Again, we will not be sending any medication home with your child.  Any medication that is not picked up by the last day of school will be destroyed in accordance with District 96 policy.

Please remember to complete a new MEDICATION AUTHORIZATION FORM for the 2017-2018 school year if your child will need to take medication during the school day. Forms can be found on the District website (www.kcsd96.org). The FOOD ALLERGY ACTION PLAN FORM as well as ASTHMA ACTION PLAN FORMS will also be found on the website.

If you should have any questions, please call the Nurse’s Office.  Thank you for all your assistance regarding this matter.  Have a wonderful summer.

Finally, go back in your memory banks and think about that amazing feeling you had when school was out for the summer. I’m talking about unbridled, personal freedom. Thinking back to my elementary school days, every teacher was nicer on the last day of school, the bus driver actually smiled and my buddies had already set the time for our first baseball game at the park. Gold. When I was in high school, my summer was dominated by baseball at night and working at my brother’s picture frame shop during the day. Take a minute and reminisce about your favorite summer from your past. This may sound crazy, but one of my best childhood memories was on a sweltering summer night, when there was no AC in the house I grew up in except for my parents' bedroom, and my siblings and I begged to sleep on the floor of my parents' room. To this day, still one of my favorite memories ever. Enjoy your summer!
