Welcome to the second-to-the-last blog of the school year.  Ms. Kennedy (who will officially be Mrs. Bird next year) and I talked with the 6th & 7th graders about finishing the year strong.  Just a couple of items this week....

Please visit the PTO Blog

A Note From Nurse Crawford

Dear Woodlawn Families,
As the school year draws to a close, please be reminded that no medication will be sent home with your student.  This includes prescription as well as over the counter medication.

If you wish to pick up your student’s medication, please do so during the last week of classes.  Again, we will not be sending any medication home with your child.  Any medication that is not picked up by the last day of school will be destroyed in accordance with District 96 policy.

Please remember to complete a new Medication Authorization Form for the 2017-2018 school year if your child will need to take medication during the school day.  Forms can be found on the District website (www.kcsd96.org). Emergency Action Plan forms as well as Asthma Action forms are also found on the website.

If you should have any questions, please call the Nurse’s Office.  Thank you for all your assistance regarding this matter.  Have a wonderful summer.

Student Special Lunch
Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the PTO pizza day on Thursday such a success.  The Woodlawn students loved it!  The teachers enjoyed the treat as well.  Thanks to the P.T.O. and all of the volunteers for helping us make it happen.

Talent Show
Our Annual Woodlawn Talent Show is coming up this Tuesday, May 30th, at 7p.m. in our gym.  Come on out to see our talented Woodlawn students as they perform for family and friends!

Supply Kits
We have a limited supply of school supply kits for sale. They will be on sale throughout the summer but they are going fast! Link through the toolkit: https://woodlawnmspto.membershiptoolkit.com/home

Special Thanks
We have two Woodlawn Staff members retiring this year.  Mary Ellen Kraemer who has worked in D96 for 28 years, the last 19 here at Woodlawn, is ready to spend more time with her husband Rich and granddaughter Chloe.  Mary Ellen is a wonderful, caring person who treats every child with the utmost respect.

Our school nurse, Rosie Crawford is also riding off into the sunset.  Rosie has been a fantastic nurse and has brought kindness and professionalism to our nurse's office.  Rosie will be enjoying extra time with her husband Barry and her granddaughter Emma.

Finally, I want to thank this 8th-grade class. There are a lot of really great students and families. I especially want to thank those parents who have their youngest child graduating.  We have had many years together and I have always appreciated your support. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you at graduation.
