We are moving toward the end of the school year and still getting a lot of school work done.  I am seeing great presentations and watching groups put together videos and practicing their roles in other group projects.  Just a few items this week.
Pizza on the PTO!!
In honor of the approaching end of school year, the PTO will treat all student to a lunch of pizza and lemon ice next Thursday, May 25th.  What a great, fun way to finish the year off!

Band Concert
Amazing job by our band students last night!  Mr. Craw did his usual fantastic work with all of our 6th, 7th & 8th graders!  The gym was packed and music was great.  Sorry that I do not have a picture, I had my phone on video.  Operator error.

Parking Lot Update
Thank you for your patience as we try to make our parking lot safe for our students.  I saw yesterday that Mr. Kuhlman parked his tractor to reinforce the cone system.  It would really help if the early arrivers would pull all the way up to the furthest point in our parking lot.  Remember, although it can be a frustration, we need to keep our children safe.

If you know a 3rd Grader…..

Finally, it is tag time.  I have mentioned this before, but it is worth mentioning again because it takes up a lot of my outside of school time and thinking.  I play a game of tag with 5 of my friends that lasts throughout the month of May.  We used to play in May and November, but there were a couple of injuries, so we voted on just playing when there was less of a chance that we would pull a hamstring or do serious damage to a knee (like yours truly did in 2014).  The rules are simple, just tag one of the other guys.  No tag backs, just like on the playground.  The fun part of our game is that we scout out where each other goes, what their activities are and when we can best get them.  Here is a list of places where we have been able to tag each other:

•Walking the dog
•At a little league baseball game (my friend found the schedule on the internet)
•The train station
•One buddy umpires softball games -tagged at home plate
•Playing in a Turkey Bowl game (November- not the knee injury)
•Pizza delivery to the house
•During a family party
•Taking out the garbage
•In remote parking at the airport (on the last day of the month)
•Disrupting a Blackhawks playoff game because a door was left open
•Sports awards night at the high school
•At church

There is no prize, just the shame of being “IT” for a year.  I can honestly tell you that I look over my shoulder as we get closer to the end of the month.  Walking to my car at the end of my work day, I am looking for anything suspicious. At the grocery store, my head is on a swivel. Taking a walk with my wife, not happening on May 31st.  I have tried to bribe the children of my friends, just to have a backup plan in case I am it and time is running short.  False information is put out there (Hey guys, I am heading out of town so don’t even come looking for me), just to put a shadow of doubt in each other’s minds.  I will be in severe, self imposed lockdown on  Wednesday, May 31st. Luckily, Woodlawn is a secure place.  I will let you know how this turns out.
