About Student Report Cards
Your student's progress report is available for you to access online today–Friday, Mar. 3, after 3 p.m. If you need assistance, please CLICK HERE for instructions to view your student's progress report, to switch between your children's progress reports, and more.

An important note for parents
When standards repeat in more than one trimester, we do not expect that students will master the knowledge and skills indicated until the last trimester in which the standard is reported. It is likely that many students will earn a score of Developing (D for elementary) or 2 for middle school until the final trimester in which the standard is addressed.

For standards in literacy courses that repeat in more than one trimester, we report based on progress toward end-of-year expectations. Your child's score for each trimester indicates his or her progress toward end-of-year expectations, so you have consistent information regarding your child’s current progress, compared to where he or she should be later in the school or at the end of the school year.

We assess students using text we expect they will be able to master by the end of the school year, so the progress report indicates your child's progress toward that expectation. A steady progression toward mastery is what you should expect. For example, an expected progression on the report card for a standard that repeats in more than one trimester could be Not Mastering (1) or Developing (2) in Trimester 1, Developing (2) in Trimester 2, and Mastering (3) in Trimester 3.

Community Service Club
Our Community Service Club did an amazing job with the drive for Operation Care Package! Over the last month they collected a large volume of snacks, games, cards, toiletries and much more. Plus we have hundreds of cards with messages of thanks and support to send from our Woodlawn students to troops overseas. Thank you to everyone who donated and participated!

 All 6th Grade Parents

Please note that if your child has not submitted a Dental Exam Report to the Nurse, the final deadline is May 15th.  There are Dental forms available that can be downloaded by going onto the District website, or most Dentists have them available and can complete them at the time of examination.  If you choose to have the exam waived, that form is also available online at the District website.

It is a state law that all 6th graders comply and submit a Dental Exam Report to the school.  Many families have already submitted the forms.  If your child still needs to have this mandated exam done, we ask that you please submit the completed form as soon as possible.  Thank you so very much.

Supply Kits
The Woodlawn PTO is selling custom-made school supply kits for your student(s) for use in the 2017-18 school year. Skip the last minute shopping and support your the PTO by purchasing a supply kit! School supply kits will be conveniently available for pick-up at "Locker Set-Up Day" in August. Last year, the Woodlawn PTO was the pilot school for the data management system, taking orders and processing credit card payments through Membership Toolkit.  If you haven’t used this system yet, you CREATE AN ACCOUNT (link below).  Parents can continue to use the toolkit throughout the 2017-18 school year to sign-up for PTO volunteer opportunities, register and pay for PTO events, activities and fundraisers. If you have an incoming 6th grader and a 7th or 8th grader, you can update your account and add students to the Woodlawn database.

Middle School Schedule
Earlier this month, the School Board approved a new schedule for Woodlawn and Twin Groves, beginning at the start of the 2017-18 school year.  This schedule is the culmination of work that has been happening for the past 3 years, gathering input from multiple stakeholders.  More information will be shared in the March 8th Superintendent Message and in future Principal Blog’s. We will also be hosting informational sessions and a parent coffee at each middle school after Spring Break.

Finally, I am at Stevenson presenting today, so this is going to be short. I am heading to St. Louis to watch my oldest play baseball this weekend.  We have family down there and the weather is supposed to be great.  The best part of my long weekend will be when the rest of my family goes to work/school on Monday and I will have the day off.  I just want a little peace and quiet.  I hope everyone has as nice of a Monday as I plan on having.
