COULD YOU USE AN EXPERT’S ADVICE?
“Ever had a job where you had no previous experience, no training, you couldn’t quit, and people’s lives were at stake? That’s parenting.” –Author unknown

Parents know that as their kids grow older, parenting challenges change. Be prepared and understand what’s happening–and what’s to come. This program for District 96 parents is well worth your time.

Lead Your Kids to Better Outcomes
Tues., Sept. 12 @ 7–8:30 p.m.
Twin Groves Middle School Learning Center, 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., BG
All interested adults welcome. Free–no preregistration required. Arrive late or leave early as your family schedule requires.

AN INVITATION TO NEWCOMERS
Has your family recently moved to the United States or are you and your student(s) new to this area?

On Sept. 13 at 7 p.m., parents of District 96 registered students in Kindergarten–Grade 8 are invited to Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove, for a program to welcome you to the community and introduce you to our District 96 culture.

Learn about and understand our home-school connection, classroom dynamics, patterns of communication to expect from our teachers and administrators, and more. Ask questions and help us understand how we can best support you as newcomers acclimating to the culture of a new school district, neighborhood, and community.

While all interested parents are welcome, please note that the focus of this evening is not specifically curricular and general procedural information, like that shared previously on District Curriculum Nights.

Rather, this is an informational opportunity for parents who–like their students–are experiencing social customs and practices for teaching and learning for the first time.

This program is for parents; however, babysitting for children ages 3 and older will be available during the program. (Parents must be attending the program.)

Questions? Please contact Director of Language and Early Literacy Katie Sheridan at [email protected] or call 847.459.4260.

GIVE IT A TRY...
Work your errands around an hour of YOU time….

Meet other D96 parents, ask each other questions, talk about concerns, laugh about our adventures along the parenting road.

This is what happens at District 96 Parent Conversations, and you’re invited. Come when you can–leave when your schedule requires.

Join in the next conversation–on Tues., Sept. 19, from 9–10:15 a.m. in the Community Room on the second floor of Sunset Foods at the intersection of Rt. 83 and Aptakisic. Questions? Please send email to [email protected] or call 847.459.4260, ext. 8022.
