District 96 will communicate with our parent community every Friday through E-NEWS 96 and through Principal’s Messages from each school in which you have a student enrolled. Our expectation is that you read these email messages weekly. They’re the main tools we use to keep you informed. If you stop receiving Friday emails from District 96 or have questions, please contact [email protected] or call 847.459.4260, ext. 8022.
IMPORTANT DATES TO NOTE – Update your calendar…
• Classroom teacher assignment | Middle School schedule | Middle School locker number & combination | Bus Info Communication: Thurs., Aug. 10, after 4 p.m.
New this year, KCSD96 will use email to send information regarding classroom teacher assignment, middle school schedule, middle school locker number & combination, bus route number, and bus pick-up/drop-off times/location. These emails will be sent to both parent email addresses that were provided by registering parents through online registration. Check for these emails after 4 p.m. on Aug. 10. If you do not receive this info on Aug. 10, one or more of the following might be the reason:
–The school nurse does not have your student’s required health info
–Required registration payment by check has not been received for families who selected “check” as their method of payment during online registration
–Your lease on file has expired.
• Meet the Teacher: Tues., Aug. 15:
Grades 1–5: 8:30–9:30 a.m. at elementary schools
Kindergarten, Early Childhood/Blended AM, & Structured: 10–11 a.m. at Willow Grove
Early Childhood/Blended PM: 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Willow Grove
• Locker Set-Up Day: Wed., Aug. 16:
Grades 6–8: 4–7 p.m. at Twin Groves & Woodlawn Middle Schools
• First day of school for all District 96 students: Thurs., Aug. 17.
This is also an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed on the following schedule:
Full-day kindergarten & Grades 1–5 dismiss at 2 p.m.
Grades 6–8 dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Willow Grove Blended students attend 12–3 p.m. on this date.

REMEMBER THAT SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT...
Grades KDG – 8 have a 2017 summer reading assignment due the first day of school!
Reading during the summer is critically important for a student’s continued growth.

BEGINNING BAND & ORCHESTRA REGISTRATION–IT’S NOT TOO LATE!
Just a reminder to register your child for Beginning Band and Orchestra! Students must be going into Grade 5 to join the band and into Grade 4 to join the orchestra. These students will start band and orchestra in August 2017. Please see the links below for more information. We look forward to seeing the students in the fall!

Fiscal year 2017–18 Income Eligibility Guidelines
INTERESTED IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD/BLENDED PROGRAM?
District 96 will have screening on Fri., Sept. 15, for students whose parents are interested in the Blended program for the 2017-2018 school year or for parents who have concerns about their child's development.
Parents of students 3 and older can call Mrs. Graham at Willow Grove to sign up for screening (847.541.3660). The screening will take place at Willow Grove Early Learning Center. MORE INFO
