WILL YOU ATTEND?
Connecting...
Parents, please plan to join us Mon., Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Learning Center at Twin Groves Middle School, 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., BG, for important work together:

Ms. DeEtta Jones–a leadership, diversity, inclusion, and equity speaker and District 96 parent–and Ms. Kathryn Schneider–District 96 director of language and early literacy–will guide discussion/activities and help frame the group's work.

On Dec. 5, we invite you to listen, learn, and participate in leader-led interactive activities with parents district wide who–like you–want the best for their children. You will:
• learn about current efforts to build cultural awareness in teachers and administrators;
• hear about the new parents’ group that adds access points for constructive involvement;
• share with each other and district leaders your expectations for our diverse community. Don’t miss this opportunity to increase our understanding together of who we are and what we value, to meet new friends, to connect as a community, to envision our future together. YOUR RSVP to attend is not required, but does help us plan.

Questions? Call 847.459.4260, ext. 8022. This program is presented by District 96 in collaboration with the D96 Parent-to-Parent Network.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ILLINOIS 5ESSENTIALS PARENT SURVEY
D96 Parents, please take time to participate in the statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey–your opportunity to join our teachers and our middle school students in having a voice in improving our schools. The online survey is conducted by UChicago Impact, a division of the Urban Education Institute of the University of Chicago, on behalf of the IL State Board of Education (ISBE). The multiple-choice questions address five predictors (that is, 5 Essentials) of school success: Effective leaders; Collaborative Teachers; Involved Families; Supportive Environments; and Ambitious Instruction. The parent survey is available in both English and Spanish and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential. Please complete this survey before Jan. 16.
